‘SOLO LEVELING’ JAPANESE MANGA ENDS AS ANIME SEASON 3 PRODUCTION BEGINS

Fans of the global hit Solo Leveling reached a pivotal milestone this week as the Japanese manga adaptation concluded its seven-year run. The final chapter, reported on June 21, 2026, marks the end of an era for Japanese readers, even as the franchise’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down.

A Seven-Year Manga Journey Ends

The localized Japanese print and digital edition of Solo Leveling, which debuted seven years ago to adapt the South Korean webtoon for the Japanese market, has wrapped up after expanding Chugong and the late artist DUBU’s original 15-volume manhwa into a sprawling 25-volume manga. While this marks the definitive close of Sung Jinwoo’s journey in this format, the series’ footprint across media continues to expand.

Anime Season 3 Confirmed with 2027–2028 Release Window

To coincide with the manga’s conclusion, publisher D&C Media delivered a major update by confirming that Season 3 of the Solo Leveling anime is officially in production at A-1 Pictures. The studio is targeting a release window of 2027–2028, signaling a more deliberate production process aimed at maintaining the high-quality animation and intense action that made the series a global sensation. Upcoming episodes are expected to tackle major narrative arcs, including the Return to the Cartenon Temple (Double Dungeon) and the International Guild Conference.

A Growing Multimedia Universe

Fans awaiting Season 3 will have no shortage of content to look forward to in the interim. Netmarble is preparing to launch Solo Leveling: KARMA, a new roguelite action-RPG, later this year. Meanwhile, a live-action Netflix drama adaptation has entered preliminary filming, aiming for a 2027 broadcast. English print editions of the spin-off sequel Solo Leveling: Ragnarok will also begin rolling out internationally this July, ensuring the franchise’s reach continues to expand.

The original manga may have reached its conclusion, but for Filipino fans and the global community, the legacy of Solo Leveling is only growing as it branches out into new stories and formats.
