HIT DETECTIVE CONAN FILM ‘THE MILLION-DOLLAR PENTAGRAM’ HEADING TO U.S. CONVENTIONS

North American anime fans are set for a cinematic treat as TMS Entertainment officially launches the Detective Conan Cinema Tour 2026. The coast-to-coast event will bring the franchise’s record-breaking feature film, Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram, to major conventions across the United States, signaling a major push to elevate Gosho Aoyama’s iconic mystery series in the Western market.

Tour Kickoff and Screening Schedule

The tour officially kicks off with a grand North American premiere at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles on July 4. Scheduled for 2:45 PM PST in Room 403AB, the premiere event will feature exclusive trivia sessions and custom merchandise giveaways courtesy of the TMS Entertainment booth.

Following its highly anticipated California debut, the film will travel to key conventions throughout the remainder of the year. Fans can catch screenings at Otakon in Washington, D.C., from July 31 to August 2, followed by a stop at Anime NYC in New York from August 20 to 23. The tour will then head back to the West Coast for L.A. Comic-Con from October 30 to November 1, move to Anime Weekend Atlanta from November 19 to 22, and finally conclude at Anime Frontier in Fort Worth, Texas, from December 4 to 6.

Inside The Million-Dollar Pentagram

Directed by Chika Nagaoka, The Million-Dollar Pentagram is the 27th feature film in the Detective Conan (historically localized as Case Closed) franchise. The movie has already made anime box office history by grossing over ¥15.8 billion in Japan, securing its position as the franchise’s highest-earning theatrical release to date.

The story transports the action to Hakodate, Hokkaido, where a cryptic challenge from the master thief Kaito Kid puts priceless samurai swords and the legacy of the Shinsengumi at the center of a high-stakes caper. Brilliant junior detective Conan Edogawa and his rival sleuth Heiji Hattori must join forces to stop Kid’s heist while simultaneously investigating a brutal murder tied directly to the ancient weaponry.

Localization and Franchise Roadmap

The cinema tour arrives at a pivotal moment for the franchise’s Western presence, alignment-wise. VIZ Media, long known for publishing the original manga under the title Case Closed, will begin releasing a new 3-in-1 omnibus edition under the restored Detective Conan name in Spring 2027. This upcoming print edition will also restore the original Japanese character names, fulfilling a long-standing request from the global fanbase.

TMS Entertainment encourages fans to check local convention schedules for exact screening room assignments and badge requirements as each event approaches, ensuring the beloved detective’s latest mystery reaches as many viewers as possible across North America.
