Telecom giant Converge ICT Solutions and cable television provider Sky Cable have firmly dismissed rumors claiming that their commercial partnership has come to an end.
In a joint statement issued on June 26, the two companies clarified that the business agreement they established in 2024 is still fully active and operational.
“The commercial arrangement between Converge ICT Solutions Inc. and Sky Cable Corp. previously disclosed on July 22 2024, remains in full force and in effect,” the companies stated.
The official clarification comes after an online report by news site Bilyonaryo claimed that Converge had withdrawn from the deal with the Lopez-led cable firm. The speculation surfaced alongside industry chatter regarding media tycoon Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III’s efforts to secure new investors for ABS-CBN Corporation.
Signed in 2024, the strategic alliance allows Sky Cable to utilize Converge’s pure fiber network infrastructure to upgrade its own broadband services. This network-sharing deal enables Sky to deliver high-speed internet connections of up to 1 gigabit per second and boost service reliability.
Additionally, the setup helps Sky compete more aggressively against major telecom players and scale up its Internet Protocol television (IPTV) services without spending heavily on building its own nationwide fiber footprint.
