ABS-CBN MORNING TALK SHOW MAGANDANG BUHAY BIDS QUIET FAREWELL

After more than a decade on the air, ABS-CBN’s morning talk show Magandang Buhay quietly ended its run on Friday, June 26.

The program first premiered on April 18, 2016, on ABS-CBN Channel 2 as the replacement for Kris Aquino’s Kris TV, originally hosted by the trio of Karla Estrada, Jolina Magdangal-Escueta, and Melai Cantiveros-Francisco.

However, amid the intense political landscape of the 2022 elections, Estrada left the show after endorsing the tandem of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte—the daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte, whose administration spearheaded the 2020 shutdown of ABS-CBN’s broadcast franchise. Following Estrada’s departure, “Asia’s Songbird” Regine Velasquez-Alcasid stepped in as the new co-host.

The show later concluded its fresh broadcast run on TV5 in 2024 and spent its final two years airing strictly in “replay” mode due to high production costs and struggling viewership ratings.

The conclusion of the talk show coincides with a major revamp of ABS-CBN’s morning lineup starting Monday, June 29. The network’s new schedule will feature the movie block Blockbusters sa Umaga at 8:30 AM, followed by the free TV debut of Kapamilya news reporter Ganiel Krishnan’s online talk show Oh My Gan! at 10:30 AM, and the simulcast of TV5’s morning talk show Face To Face with Ate Koring at 11:00 AM across ABS-CBN’s television platforms.
