House prosecutor and Akbayan Party-list Representative Chel Diokno called out Vice President Sara Duterte on Tuesday, claiming her recent statements belong in a movie rather than a serious impeachment trial.
The criticism followed Duterte’s remarks during a Senate media briefing earlier that day, where she seemingly channeled the classic Victorian poem “Invictus” to describe her ordeal.
“In this bloodbath and bludgeoning, I will be bloodied but unbowed.”
Diokno dismissed the theatrical language, questioning the dramatic tone of her defense.
“Bakit laging bloody ang script?”
The lawmaker stressed that the impeachment proceedings demand concrete facts over cinematic flair.
“Impeachment trial ito, hindi action movie. Ang tanong ng taumbayan: Sasagutin ba ang ebidensya o puro drama na lang?” Diokno added.
The exchange unfolded on the second day of the Senate impeachment court, where prosecutors laid out evidence concerning alleged death threats made by the Vice President against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
