House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III lauded tennis star Alex Eala on Tuesday for her historic performance at Wimbledon, stating that her incredible campaign has won the hearts of the nation and signals even greater achievements ahead.
Despite missing out on the title, Dy pointed out that Eala’s journey was a victory in itself, as she proudly raised the Philippine flag on the global stage and inspired millions of her fellow citizens.
Dy noted that Eala’s matches highlighted the resilience, determination, and continuous growth that have established her as one of the most exciting young talents in world tennis.
“Hindi man nagtapos sa panalo ang makasaysayang kampanya mo sa Wimbledon, Alex, panalo ka pa rin sa puso ng bawat Pilipino,” the Speaker remarked.
According to the House leader, each step of her journey contributes to her development as an elite competitor.
“Every match, every victory, every loss is another step forward in what is already becoming an extraordinary career,” Dy noted.
Dy thanked Eala for bringing pride to the country and for serving as a role model for aspiring young Filipino athletes dreaming of reaching the international arena.
“Maraming salamat sa karangalang ibinigay mo sa ating bayan. Proud kaming lahat sa’yo. The best is yet to come,” he added.
