PAGASA FORECASTS 2 TO 4 TROPICAL CYCLONES THIS JULY

State weather bureau PAGASA announced on Wednesday that two to four tropical cyclones are anticipated to develop within or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this July, even as the country grapples with the arrival of Super Typhoon Inday.

During a press briefing, meteorologists highlighted that atmospheric conditions remain highly active. Aside from tracking Inday, forecasters are monitoring a distinct cloud cluster over the Pacific Ocean that could develop into a low-pressure area (LPA).

Though currently disorganized, this system is trailing south of Super Typhoon Inday and could pose a threat to other regions if it intensifies into a storm.

“Kung ilang bagyo, ang forecast natin ay 2 to 4 this July,” PAGASA stated.

When questioned about the frequency and timing of these upcoming weather disturbances, the bureau emphasized that storm intervals are highly unpredictable.

“May time na sa isang linggo sunod-sunod yan na dalawa and then maaaring magkakaroon ng break pero ang binibigay nating forecast ay for the whole month. Sa ngayon hindi pa tayo naglalabas sa interval,” the bureau noted.

Super Typhoon Inday officially entered the PAR at 3 a.m. on Wednesday, prompting authorities to raise Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over several areas in Luzon by mid-morning.

As the rainy season peaks, weather officials are advising communities to remain vigilant and brace for subsequent developments.

“After ng ‘Inday’, may mino-monitor tayong na cloud cluster sa may pacific so posible na ma-develop into low pressure area,” the weather bureau added.
