Movie fans can look forward to more affordable cinema tickets during the 52nd Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) after organizers announced a maximum ticket price of ₱299 for this year’s festival.
On Tuesday, MMDA Chairman Don Artes, who heads the MMFF, confirmed that ticket prices for all official festival entries will not go beyond ₱299.
He explained that the amount is only a price ceiling, meaning moviegoers may still find lower ticket prices depending on the location and the decisions of theater operators and producers.
“The ₱299 is only the maximum price. Ticket prices can still go lower, especially in the provinces, depending on the decision of theater owners, CEAP and the producers,” he stated.
The reduced ticket pricing is part of the festival’s effort to encourage more people to return to cinemas and support Filipino films during the holiday season. The MMFF will run from December 25, 2026, to January 7, 2027.
Organizers have also unveiled the first four official entries for this year’s festival:
- 2nd Miracle in Cell No. 7 – A family drama from VIVA Communications directed by Nuel Crisostomo Naval, starring Aga Muhlach and Xia Vigor.
- Amir – A fantasy-drama produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs, directed by Zig Dulay, featuring Dennis Trillo, Will Ashley, Glaiza de Castro, and Argus Aspiras.
- Haunted Carnival – A horror film from Regal Entertainment directed by Joey de Guzman, starring Maricel Soriano, Fyang Smith, Julia Barretto, James Reid, RK Bagatsing, and John Arcilla.
- The Greatest Showdown – A comedy film produced by Star Cinema, The IdeaFirst Company, M-Zet Productions, and APT Entertainment, directed by Jun Robles Lana, with Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto leading the cast.
To launch this year’s celebration, the MMFF will hold a two-part Parade of Stars. The first leg is scheduled in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, while the second parade will pass through San Juan City and Mandaluyong City.
