The Philippine government has launched its electronic visa (e-Visa) system for travelers from Denmark, including those from the Faroe Islands and Greenland, making it easier for eligible visitors to apply for entry permits online.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that travelers planning to stay in the Philippines for more than 30 days may now submit their visa applications through the official e-Visa portal. Visa fees can also be paid online through direct bank transfers.
DFA spokesperson Analyn Ratonel emphasized that the new system does not affect the existing visa-free privilege enjoyed by Danish passport holders, including those from the Faroe Islands and Greenland.
“Said foreign nationals who intend to stay beyond thirty (30) days, however, are required to obtain a Philippine 9(a) Temporary Visitor’s Visa prior to travel.”
The e-Visa is intended for temporary visitors traveling to the Philippines for tourism, business, medical treatment, training, conferences, seminars, and other short-term purposes.
Once approved by the Philippine Embassy in Copenhagen, applicants can access their visa electronically through their mobile devices or computers and present either a digital or printed copy upon arrival, eliminating the need for visa stickers in passports.
Approved travelers are also required to complete their online e-Travel registration through the official government portal within 72 hours before their scheduled departure for the Philippines.
Ratonel said the expansion of the e-Visa program is part of the DFA’s ongoing efforts to improve consular services.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Embassy in Denmark reminded applicants that e-Visas cannot be extended or converted into another visa category after entering the country.
Those traveling to the Philippines for work or studies, as well as holders of alien passports or convention travel documents issued to refugees, must continue applying for a regular visa through an in-person appointment.
