President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. met with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair at Malacañang Palace on Wednesday, marking another prominent meeting between the two leaders.
Following the discussion, President Marcos turned to social media to share his appreciation for the diplomatic engagement.
“It was a pleasure to welcome the former British leader to the Palace,” Marcos wrote.
The Chief Executive also praised Blair’s enduring impact on international affairs and leadership.
“As one of Britain’s longest-serving Prime Ministers, he continues to contribute to global conversations on governance and public policy through the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change,” Marcos remarked.
Blair, who served at the helm of the United Kingdom from 1997 to 2007, is visiting the Philippines for the first time since his previous trip in September 2022.
Currently serving as the executive chair of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, the former prime minister heads a non-profit organization focused on supporting global policymakers and administrations in building “open, inclusive and prosperous societies in an interconnected global world.”
