Veteran point guard Kiefer Ravena has closed the chapter on his international basketball career, acknowledging that he no longer anticipates wearing the Gilas Pilipinas jersey in upcoming global tournaments.
The 32-year-old playmaker revealed that he has fully embraced his absence from the national program’s current blueprint under head coach Tim Cone, viewing his time with the squad as officially over.
“Hindi lang naman talaga ako kinukuha (sa Gilas Pilipinas), whatever the reason may be. Pero either way, retire na rin naman ako sa national team,” Ravena said.
Ravena was previously a mainstay for the national team under former mentor Chot Reyes, anchoring the backcourt across numerous regional and international campaigns. His final appearance for the country took place during the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, a tournament that served as a crossroads before the program transitioned to a restructured core spearheaded by Cone. Ravena has not been called up to the pool since the coaching handover.
While his international journey has concluded, the guard remains highly competitive in the professional circuit, currently showcasing his skills in Japan’s B.League as an Asian quota player for the Ryukyu Golden Kings.
