TWO TV5 PAY TV CHANNELS TO LEAVE CIGNAL THIS AUGUST

Two pay television channels owned by the Kapatid Network are scheduled to cease operations on the Cignal pay TV platform this August.

The comedy-centric channel “BuKo” will officially sign off on August 1. Launched in 2021, the channel was a joint venture between TV5 Network Inc. and APT Entertainment, the television and film production outfit helmed by industry veteran Antonio P. Tuviera.

During its run, BuKo served as the broadcast home for classic, top-rating comedy programs from both TV5 and APT, including “Wow Mali,” “Okay Ka, Fairy Ko,” and “Lokomoko U.” It also hosted major variety programs such as “EAT… Bulaga!” and “Wil To Win.”

While Cignal has yet to announce plans for the soon-to-be-vacated Channel 2 slot, industry rumors suggest it could become the new home for free-to-air channel ALLTV, which currently broadcasts ABS-CBN programs.

Following BuKo’s exit, True TV—the television counterpart of the network’s FM radio station 105.9 True FM—will also bid farewell on August 15.

Established in 2024, True TV broadcasted popular Kapatid radio segments like “STL Sa Totoo Lang,” “Ted Failon at DJ ChaCha sa TrueFM,” “Wanted Sa Radyo,” “Cristy FerMinute,” and the news program “Frontline Pilipinas.” These programs were simulcast alongside sister pay TV station One PH. Cignal has not yet named a replacement for True TV on Channel 19.

These developments follow prior portfolio adjustments on Cignal earlier this year, which saw the departure of VIVA Communications channels PBO, VIVA Cinema, and Sari-Sari Channel, as well as the integration of ABS-CBN’s English-language news station, ANC (ABS-CBN News Channel).
