Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano and his younger brother, former Taguig Mayor and current PTV-4 General Manager Lino Cayetano, are slated to receive invitations to the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee’s inquiry into alleged “ghost” flood control developments in Taguig City.
Committee chairman Senator Erwin Tulfo disclosed that Lino Cayetano, who held the city’s top local post from 2019 to 2022, personally asked for a congressional review regarding ₱6 billion worth of flood mitigation projects implemented in Taguig between 2022 and 2025.
Tulfo highlighted that since the younger Cayetano initiated the request, he likely uncovered potential anomalies during that period.
”Siguro dapat mag-ready siya doon na kapatid niya mismo ang humihingi ng imbestigasyon dahil may nakita yata ‘yung kanyang kapatid,” he added, referring to the elder Cayetano.
The minority leader has repeatedly dismissed claims of fraudulent infrastructure in Taguig.
In response to the growing scrutiny, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano fired back at Tulfo and Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson—who has also been vocal on the matter—by raising questions about how the two lawmakers acquired their wealth.
The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee plans to resume its inquiry into the contested flood control projects following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address on Monday, July 27.
