House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III expressed confidence that the House of Representatives will pass additional priority measures identified by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) before the year concludes.
Dy issued the statement ahead of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address on Monday, July 27, which marks the opening of the 20th Congress’s second regular session.
The Isabela 6th District representative noted that a majority of the remaining priority bills are already in advanced legislative stages, including the proposed Cybersecurity Act scheduled for second reading, alongside eight other measures pending before the Appropriations and Ways and Means committees.
“Marami sa natitirang priority bills ay nasa advanced stage na po ng ating legislative process,” Dy said.
“Kaya hinihiling po sana natin sa ating mga counterpart sa Senado, na tulungan tayong maisabatas na ang iba pang mga bills bago matapos ang taon,” he noted, calling on the Senate to assist in expediting the bicameral process.
The Speaker emphasized that the House will continue to focus on legislation offering direct benefits to ordinary citizens, highlighting the importance of close collaboration with the executive branch and the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office.
“Patuloy nating bibigyan ng prayoridad ang mga panukalang direktang makatutulong sa mga Pilipino at sisiguraduhin nating masusi at timely ang pagtalakay sa mga ito,” he said.
“Ang aming layunin ay makapagpasa ng mga batas na may tunay na pakinabang at mararamdaman ng bawat Pilipino,” Dy added.
Out of 52 LEDAC priority bills, the House has already approved 26 during its first regular session, including 15 of the 21 targeted for passage by June 2026.
Landmark laws already enacted include the Right to Information Act, the Anti-Political Dynasty Act, amendments to the Bank Deposits Secrecy Law, and the rescheduling of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao parliamentary elections.
“Ipinapakita lamang nito na seryoso po ang KAMARA sa pagpapatupad sa legislative agenda ng administrasyon,” Dy stated.
“Malayo na po ang ating narating. Sa first regular session pa lamang ng 20th Congress, naaprubahan na po ng Congress ang 26 sa 52 LEDAC priority measures. Kabilang po dito ang 15 sa 21 priority bills na tinarget maipasa bago matapos ang Hunyo 2026,” he said.
“Tuloy pa rin po ang trabaho. Hindi po tayo magpapahinga dahil marami pa tayong kailangang tapusin, at pursigido ang House na maipasa rin ang mga natitira pang LEDAC priority measures,” Dy affirmed, reiterating the chamber’s resolve to support the administration’s reform agenda.
