The Quezon City government has unveiled new public recreation features at the Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC), highlighted by a 12,000-square-meter multi-purpose open field designed for leisure, sports, and community events.
Mayor Joy Belmonte officially led the opening of the area on Saturday, July 25, as part of ongoing efforts to modernize the QMC and turn it into a more vibrant, accessible green space for the public.
The newly opened field features landscaped grounds, lamp-lit walking paths, scenic views of the Quezon Memorial Shrine, a pond, and an amphitheater built to host diverse gatherings.
In addition to the open field, the city introduced a dedicated dog park equipped with agility setups—such as an open tunnel and an A-frame obstacle—along with benches and trash bins for pet owners’ convenience.
City officials noted that these additions are key components of the broader QMC redevelopment plan aimed at promoting outdoor activities and community engagement. The project also incorporates sustainable infrastructure, featuring a retention pond and detention tank to harvest rainwater for future city use.
This milestone follows the earlier opening of a competition-grade skate park and a public tennis court within the park complex. Construction is currently in progress for further additions, including a view corridor, a stepped lawn, and dedicated courts for basketball, volleyball, futsal, and pickleball.
In addition to its expanding sports and leisure facilities, the Quezon Memorial Circle continues to serve as a vital cultural hub, hosting historic landmarks such as the Quezon Memorial Shrine, the Quezon City Heritage House, the Presidential Car Museum, and Bahay Modernismo.
