Rainy weather will persist across several parts of Luzon on Thursday due to the combined effects of a low pressure area (LPA) and the easterlies, according to state meteorologists.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that the LPA was last spotted over the coastal waters of Nasugbu, Batangas as of 3:00 AM.
While the system remains unlikely to intensify into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours, it will trigger scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon.
Meanwhile, the easterlies are set to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Cagayan Valley. Weather authorities have warned residents in affected areas to brace for potential flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rainfall.
The rest of the Philippines can expect isolated rain showers driven by localized thunderstorms, which may also trigger sudden flash floods or landslides during severe downpours.
Additionally, light to moderate winds paired with slight to moderate coastal waters will prevail across the entire country, PAGASA noted.
