Nationwide focus crime incidents dropped by 36.12% in July compared to the same period last year, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported on Monday.
PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stated that records logged 2,209 focus crime cases last month—a decrease of 1,249 incidents from the 3,458 cases recorded in July 2025.
The PNP categorizes focus crimes into offenses against persons (murder, homicide, physical injury, rape) and offenses against property (robbery, theft, vehicle theft, motorcycle theft).
“These results reflect the continuing efforts of the PNP, together with our communities and partner agencies, to prevent crime, strengthen police visibility, and keep our neighborhoods safe,” Nartatez said.
All eight focus crime categories logged decreases, led by rape with the highest reduction at 56.93%. Vehicle theft followed with a 46.15% drop, while motorcycle theft decreased by 42.59%.
Regional data also showed progress in Western Visayas, where focus crimes fell by 38.09%. Police Regional Office 6 Director Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño reported 104 incidents from July 1 to 31, down from 168 cases during the same timeframe in 2025.
In the region, rape cases saw the sharpest decline, plunging 78.26% from 46 to 10 cases, followed by motorcycle theft, which dropped 76.92% from 13 to three.
Murder fell 28.57% (14 to 10), robbery went down 15.38% (13 to 11), and theft decreased 13.63% (44 to 38). Homicide cases remained unchanged at eight.
”These numbers reflect the collective effort of our police officers and our communities to make Western Visayas safer. We will continue building on these gains by strengthening police visibility, improving response capabilities, and working closely with our stakeholders to prevent crime before it happens,” Tuaño said.
Tuaño encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to local authorities or through official PNP channels.
