Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon expressed support for the construction of the Philippines’ first Women and Children’s Crisis Center in Barangay Alabang.
Designed as a national shelter, the upcoming facility will offer safe haven, medical care, psychological support, legal assistance, counseling, and vocational training for survivors of abuse and violence.
Biazon noted that the crisis center will bolster the city’s current support systems for vulnerable sectors, complementing local facilities like the SAGIP Center, Bahay Pagasa, and Bahay Kanlungan.
“So we would really appreciate the establishment of this institution because it adds to what we believe is a core value of Muntinlupa–that is to care for those in need in society,” the mayor said.
The project is a collaborative effort between the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Department of Health (DOH), the Association of Women Legislators Foundation Inc. (AWLFI), and the Congressional Spouses Foundation Inc. (CSFI). The initiative is led by Pangasinan 4th District Representative Gina de Venecia along with Pampanga 2nd District Representative and former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
