NO FILIPINOS HARMED IN DEADLY THAI SCHOOL SHOOTING — PH EMBASSY

​No Filipino nationals were injured in a tragic shooting at a Thai school that resulted in seven fatalities and multiple injuries on Friday, the Philippine Embassy in Thailand confirmed.

​The embassy stated that all eight Filipino teachers registered at Debsirin School Nonthaburi “are safe, accounted for, and uninjured.”

In the wake of the tragedy, the diplomatic mission extended its condolences to those affected.

​”The Philippine Embassy extends its deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as to the entire school community and the Thai government following the tragic school shooting incident at Debsirin School Nonthaburi,” the statement read.

​”The Philippine Embassy likewise prays for the speedy and full recovery of those who were injured. The Philippines stands in solidarity with Thailand during this time of grief,” the mission added.

​Diplomatic officials noted that they are monitoring the situation closely and stand ready to provide assistance as needed.

​According to local reports, the shooting broke out around 10:12 a.m. on the sixth floor of the school’s Building 5. Police identified the suspect as a student at the school, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following the attack.
