Two weather disturbances have officially exited the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) monitoring area, though state meteorologists continue to track another system outside the country.
PAGASA confirmed that Typhoon “Dolphin” and a tropical depression previously designated as LPA 08B are no longer within its domain. Meanwhile, another tropical depression, formerly LPA 08C, remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
As of 8 a.m., the remaining tropical depression was located 2,040 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon. The system packed maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts reaching 55 kilometers per hour, moving east-southeast at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour.
Despite the exit of the two weather systems, the weather bureau cautioned that the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will continue to trigger heavy downpours in several regions from August 9 to 12.
Benguet is expected to receive over 200 millimeters of rainfall through noon of August 10. Rainfall levels ranging between 100 and 200 millimeters are projected to affect Metro Manila, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Zambales, Bataan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.
Other parts of Northern, Central, and Southern Luzon, alongside Western Visayas, are anticipated to experience 50 to 100 millimeters of rain.
PAGASA noted that precipitation could be significantly heavier in highland and mountainous areas, warning that recent water accumulation could heighten the risk of flooding and landslides.
