The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has readied 5 million family food packs for immediate release as heavy weekend rains cause widespread flooding and weather forecasters monitor two tropical depressions outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Designed to feed a five-member family for two to three days, the relief packs have been strategically prepositioned across key logistical hubs nationwide to ensure rapid delivery.
According to Social Welfare Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, major stockpiles include over 805,000 packs at the Luzon Disaster Resource Center in Pasay City, more than 475,000 packs at the Visayas Disaster Resource Center in Mandaue City, Cebu, and over 196,000 packs at the Mindanao Disaster Resource Center in Butuan City.
In addition to the food supplies, the DSWD maintains ₱1.6 billion in standby emergency funds, with quick response teams and disaster relief equipment on standby for deployment.
“Patuloy na naka-monitor ang lahat ng DSWD Field Offices para tumulong sa mga lokal na pamahalaan na kasalukuyang naapektuhan ng masamang panahon,” she said.
