More individuals allegedly listed as recipients of Vice President Sara Duterte’s confidential funds could be identified when another Commission on Audit (COA) official appears before the Senate impeachment court.
House Deputy Speaker and La Union 1st District Representative Paolo Ortega V said the prosecution plans to present COA Intelligence and Confidential Funds Audit Office supervising state auditor Xylene Mae del Campo as its next witness.
He said her testimony could potentially reveal additional names similar to those that have already drawn public attention.
“Well, hindi natin maikakaila na siya yung pinakasikat talaga, si Mary Grace Piatos, pero baka nandyan na rin po sila, susunod na rin po sila Chippy McDonald, sila Miggy Mango. Abangan po natin kasi may mga diskarte naman po dyan yung ating prosecutors. I’m sure mag-discuss po yan,” Ortega said in a radio interview.
Prosecutors expect del Campo to discuss the results of her audit concerning the utilization of confidential funds provided to the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd), according to Ortega.
“Tuloy po ’yon, tuloy po ’yung nakalinya po doon sa pag-presenta ng ating witness,” he added.
Questions surrounding the identities of alleged confidential fund recipients gained prominence after Duterte submitted an acknowledgment receipt to COA bearing the name “Mary Grace Piattos.” The individual could not be found in the Philippine Statistics Authority’s database.
Investigations also previously raised questions about other purported recipients, including “Milky Secuya,” “Kokoy Villamin,” and “Xiaomi Ocho,” who likewise reportedly have no corresponding records in the PSA database.
Ortega said del Campo’s testimony is expected to help the prosecution establish the movement of the confidential funds, including how they were distributed and subsequently liquidated.
“Mainam po na makita talaga kung saan po talaga pumunta yung pera at kung may nakatanggap po ng pera,” he said.
