HOUSE RECEIVES RECORD ₱7.2-TRILLION 2027 PROPOSED BUDGET WITH PLEDGE OF TRANSPARENCY

Under the leadership of Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, the House of Representatives has pledged a transparent, reform-focused review of the proposed 2027 national budget, amid heightened public scrutiny following flood control corruption issues.

The commitment coincided with the formal handover of the proposed ₱7.2-trillion National Expenditure Program (NEP) for 2027 by Budget Secretary Kim Robert de Leon on Tuesday, August 11.

Representing the largest spending proposal in Philippine history, the 2027 NEP stands 6% higher than the current ₱6.793-trillion national budget and will form the basis of the House’s General Appropriations Bill (GAB).

”Masusi nating susuriin ang bawat bahagi ng panukala,” Speaker Dy assured during the turnover ceremony.

Key legislative leaders attended the handover, including House Committee on Appropriations Chairperson Mikaela Angela “Mika” Suansing, Majority Leader Sandro Marcos, Minority Leader Marcelino “Nonoy” Libanan, and Senior Deputy Speaker Ferdinand Hernandez.

This marks the first full budget cycle led by Speaker Dy, who took office on September 17, 2025.

The House plans to retain transparency mechanisms introduced during the previous cycle, such as live-streaming bicameral conference committee hearings and utilizing the Budget Amendments and Review Subcommittee.

”Ang budget ay pera ng taumbayan. May karapatan silang malaman kung saan ito mapupunta. Sisikapin po natin na maging mas bukas pa ang pagbubuo ng ating national budget,” Dy added.
