LOPEZ FAMILY INVESTS ₱2.2 BILLION TO POWER ABS-CBN RECOVERY

ABS-CBN Corporation has secured a much-needed ₱2.2 billion cash injection from three branches of the Lopez family to support the media network’s ongoing operations and financial recovery.

The capital infusion will be funneled through family-owned entities: Crème Investment Corporation, led by former ABS-CBN Chairman Emeritus Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III; Mantes Corporation, representing the heirs of the late tycoon Manuel “Manolo” Lopez; and Presta Holdings Corporation, headed by Maria Eugenia Brown of the Presentacion Lopez-Psinakis lineage.

“ABS-CBN has been part of this family for generations. The mission my father set out to pursue remains the heartbeat of this family — to be in the service of the Filipino. We are putting our own money behind this conviction,” Lopez stated.

This financial commitment follows Gabby Lopez’s confirmation regarding the sale of his family branch’s 25.7% stake in Lopez Inc. to San Miguel Corporation Chairman Ramon S. Ang. Acquired in Ang’s personal capacity through a private holding company, the transaction valued Lopez Inc. at ₱45 billion—pegging Crème Investment’s share at roughly ₱11.6 billion.

The remaining Lopez family branches retain controlling interest in the holding firm after Ang clarified that their respective shares were not for sale.

According to Crème Investment, Mantes, and Presta Holdings, the fresh capital will be used to settle obligations to longtime employees and fund broader corporate recovery initiatives, subject to final agreements with ABS-CBN Corporation.
