President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has described the proposed Pax Silica high-tech hub as a major economic win that will open doors for expanded foreign investments and accelerate national economic development.
Speaking at a presidential luncheon hosted by the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines, Marcos emphasized that the country remains open to economic partnerships with any nation, asserting that international investments should not be viewed through a rigid, “either-or” framework.
“Whenever someone is interested to come into the Philippines to invest, so long as it is to the mutual benefit of all parties involved, that for us is a good deal. And it is a good deal that we will enter into, no matter where it comes from,” Marcos said.
The President reiterated the country’s willingness to work alongside key global partners—including the United States, European nations, China, Japan, South Korea, Canada, and Australia—provided these arrangements directly generate jobs and enhance the skill set of the Filipino workforce.
“And so long as we are able to move the economy forward and to better the lives of our people, then that is something that we will certainly examine,” he said.
“And if it turns out that that is a beneficial agreement or arrangement, then certainly we will become part of it,” Marcos added.
Slated for development in New Clark City, Tarlac, Pax Silica is designed as an advanced technology park under the Luzon Economic Corridor initiative.
Projected to create up to 190,000 high-quality jobs for locals, the project has nonetheless drawn scrutiny from various groups concerned about potential community displacement and resource depletion.
