Public confidence and approval ratings for the Philippine National Police (PNP) experienced a slight uptick in the second quarter of the year, according to non-commissioned survey results released by OCTA Research.
The face-to-face poll, administered from July 4 to 11 among 1,200 adult Filipinos, revealed that 65 percent of respondents trust the national police force—a modest two-point increase from the 63 percent recorded in March.
Meanwhile, 13 percent expressed distrust and 23 percent were undecided, yielding a net trust score of +52.
Regional breakdowns show trust peaking in the Visayas at 70 percent, followed by Balance Luzon at 69 percent and Mindanao at 67 percent. In contrast, trust in the National Capital Region (NCR) lagged significantly at 40 percent.
Across socioeconomic tiers, trust was highest among Class E at 72 percent and Class ABC at 71 percent, while Class D recorded 62 percent. Distrust was most pronounced among Class ABC respondents at 16 percent.
Performance satisfaction also edged higher, rising to 63 percent nationwide compared to 61 percent in the previous quarter. The Visayas and Mindanao registered the highest satisfaction levels at 67 percent each, with Balance Luzon close behind at 65 percent.
Metro Manila recorded both the lowest satisfaction score at 43 percent and the highest dissatisfaction rate at 38 percent.
By socioeconomic status, Class E reported the highest approval at 69 percent, whereas Class ABC recorded the lowest at 59 percent.
The nationwide survey carries a ±3 percent margin of error at a 95 percent confidence level, with a ±6 percent error margin for regional sub-samples.
