SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY MAINTAINS TOP NORTH AMERICAN BOX OFFICE SPOT FOR FOURTH WEEK

”Spider-Man: Brand New Day” retained its throne at the North American box office for a fourth straight frame, pulling in $39 million. Though earnings dropped 45 percent week-over-week, the Marvel superhero blockbuster headlined by Tom Holland alongside his wife, Zendaya, continues its historic theatrical run.

Since its July 31 premiere, the record-breaking domestic debutant has generated $854.9 million across North American theaters and an additional $1.37 billion internationally, according to industry metrics from Exhibitor Relations.

Securing the runner-up position, Sony Pictures’ “Insidious: Out of the Further” opened strong with a $25.3 million launch. The sixth chapter in the horror series, starring Amelia Eve, Brandon Perea, and Maisie Richardson-Sellers, follows a young woman possessing the terrifying power to summon spirits into the real world as she faces her own hauntings.

Analyzing the release, FranchiseRe movie industry newsletter analyst David Gross offered insight into the performance:

“This is a solid opening for the 6th episode of a horror series,” Gross noted. “The drop from number five’s opening in July 2023 is substantial but typical of these sequels.”

Sliding down to third place, Christopher Nolan’s cinematic epic “The Odyssey” collected $19.5 million in its sixth weekend—a minor 17 percent decrease—pushing its domestic cumulative total to $539.1 million.

Paramount Pictures’ “Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie” finished fourth after taking in $9 million, experiencing a 55 percent decline from its opening frame.

Warner Bros.’ sci-fi thriller “The End of Oak Street,” starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor as a couple confronting prehistoric dangers in their displaced neighborhood, rounded out the top five with $9 million, reflecting a 57 percent drop.

The remaining top 10 domestic releases included:

  • “Mutiny” – $7.5 million
  • “Tony” – $5 million
  • “Spa Weekend” – $3.1 million
  • “The Fast and the Furious” – $3.1 million
  • “Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma” – $1.9 million
