Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. instructed police commanders at all levels to routinely assess their security strategies to preserve and enhance public trust in law enforcement.
The directive followed the release of a second-quarter 2026 poll by research firm OCTA Research, which recorded a trust rating of 65% for the national police force, rising from 63% in March 2026. The survey also indicated that public satisfaction with the police increased to 63%, up two percentage points from the first quarter.
Commending personnel across the agency, Nartatez credited the improved numbers to the dedication and professionalism of the force.
“The trust and satisfaction ratings obtained by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in a recent survey should serve as a motivation to do more in order for the public to feel the hard work and sacrifices of every police officer in keeping all streets and communities safe,” Nartatez said.
“To serve and protect the Filipino people is the mandate of your PNP and doing them with honor, compassion and integrity is a commitment that we continue to pursue and strengthen,” he added.
Nartatez stated that the survey results validate the agency’s Enhanced Managing Police Operations strategy, proving the organization’s approach to crime prevention is yielding positive outcomes. However, he cautioned officers against complacency, urging continuous refinement of operational strategies.
Station-level commanders were instructed to analyze the poll data, evaluate active crime reduction measures, and resolve operational gaps.
“Maintaining peace and order is a continuing process that needs constant review and adjustments,” Nartatez noted.
“The goal has always been to make the Filipino people feel every decline in crime rate—and we are thankful that this is being appreciated with high trust and satisfaction ratings,” he stated.
