FORMER LOVE TEAMS SET TO CLASH IN PRIMETIME SECOND SLOT

A head-to-head ratings battle between former romantic screen partners is brewing on primetime television.

This follows confirmation from GMA Network and VIVA Communications that the romantic drama series “Love, Siargao”—starring Alden Richards and Nadine Lustre—will officially begin airing on the Kapuso Network on Monday, September 28.

The new schedule pushes GMA’s action series “Taskforce Firewall” to the 8:00 PM time slot, filling the space left vacant by the Dingdong Dantes-led series “The Master Cutter,” which concludes its run on Friday, September 25.

Originally launched on the streaming platform Viu, “Love, Siargao” is slated to directly compete in the second primetime slot against ABS-CBN Studios’ romantic comedy “Someone Someday”. The latter, featuring Kathryn Bernardo, James Reid, and Maja Salvador, currently broadcasts across Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, TV5, and ALLTV2.

The upcoming ratings clash carries added history between the opposing leads. Richards and Bernardo previously headlined the 2019 blockbuster “Hello, Love, Goodbye” and its 2024 sequel “Hello, Love, Again,” which stands as the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.

Meanwhile, Reid and Lustre formed the popular “JaDine” tandem in 2014—starring in hits like “Diary ng Panget,” “Talk Back and You’re Dead,” and the 2015 series “On the Wings of Love”—before ending both their onscreen partnership and real-life relationship in 2020.
