The Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. has issued a caution to Filipinos residing in the United States, advising them to stay abreast of shifting American immigration policies and maintain full compliance with local laws.
In an advisory published on August 26, diplomatic officials highlighted that the U.S. Department of State “has begun reviewing B1/B2 business and tourist visas issued to foreign nationals who subsequently applied for asylum in the United States,” adding that “has begun reviewing B1/B2 business and tourist visas issued to foreign nationals who subsequently applied for asylum in the United States, with visa revocations expected to be undertaken on a rolling basis.”
While the embassy did not estimate how many Philippine citizens might be affected, it emphasized that federal agencies handle immigration matters individually based on specific case facts.
“Filipino nationals who have concerns regarding their current immigration status are strongly encouraged to consult a qualified U.S. immigration attorney or an accredited legal service provider for advice appropriate to their individual circumstances,” the diplomatic post counseled.
Addressing the community amid evolving American enforcement efforts, the embassy reminded citizens to seek professional legal counsel rather than rely on general advice.
“The Embassy reminds the Filipino community that immigration cases are determined by the appropriate U.S. authorities based on the circumstances of each case,” the statement added.
