President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. honored the memory of his former aide-de-camp, Maj. Ma. Joshua Santiago, remembering him as a dedicated serviceman, a reliable officer, and a person of strong character.
In a social media statement published on Friday, the Chief Executive expressed deep sadness over the military officer’s death, emphasizing his commitment to the nation.
“We mourn the passing of Maj. Ma. Joshua P. Santiago, a brave soldier who fought for our country with dedication and honor,” Marcos shared.
Having worked in close proximity to Santiago during his tenure as aide-de-camp, Marcos reflected on the close working relationship and personal bond they developed.
“In the time he stood by my side as my Aide-de-Camp, I came to know a soldier of courage, an officer I could depend on and, above all, a good man,” he stated.
Photos released online showed the President visiting Santiago’s wake to personally extend his condolences. Concluding his message, Marcos offered prayers for the fallen officer’s loved ones and brothers-in-arms.
“Fair winds and following seas, Jam. It was my privilege to have you by my side,” Marcos added.
