The Land Registration Authority (LRA) has launched an investigation into the issuance of land titles for roughly 38.83 hectares of unauthorized reclamation along the Taguig City area of Laguna Lake, according to Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson.
The probe relies on records turned over by the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) to trace the origin of the land titles, which were allegedly secured through homestead patents as well as judicial and ordinary land registration processes.
Lacson noted that the PRA could initiate legal forfeiture proceedings to void the titles if irregularities are confirmed.
“I requested them to backtrack the history of the issued OCTs (original certificates of title) and other modes of titling, so we will find out how they were manipulated with the end in view of filing criminal charges against those responsible,” Lacson said.
The LRA’s review forms part of a broader inquiry into infrastructure and reclamation irregularities in Taguig City. Additional evidence from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is being transferred to the Office of the Ombudsman to support its ongoing fact-finding investigation.
The Ombudsman has issued subpoenas to the DPWH, PRA, LRA, and the Taguig Registry of Deeds after Lacson’s office submitted case studies detailing alleged ghost projects, duplicate funding, reused billing photos, and the illegal diversion of slope protection funds toward unauthorized reclamation work.
