Cross-border remittance firm Taptap Send has joined forces with GCash, the largest mobile wallet provider in the Philippines, to broaden remittance services for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) residing in Bahrain.
According to a press statement by GCash, the collaboration enables Filipinos based in the Middle Eastern nation to transfer funds straight into recipient GCash wallets in the Philippines.
Senders can take advantage of zero transfer fees under a limited promotional deal, though standard foreign exchange conversion rates will remain applicable.
Following the initial launch in Bahrain, both companies intend to roll out the integrated transfer option across other key migrant destinations, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, and 27 European countries.
“Our partnership with GCash allows us to make it even easier for overseas Filipinos to send money home through a trusted digital platform,” stated Faye Sta. Ana-Corpuz, Taptap Send’s head of Philippines growth and Southeast Asia expansion.
Sta. Ana-Corpuz added that offering competitive exchange rates alongside zero transaction charges across active corridors helps migrant workers maximize the financial support they send home.
The initiative also aims to steer transactions away from unaccredited, informal money operators and into fully licensed digital channels, providing improved security and clear audit trails for both consumers and financial regulators.
“By working with trusted international partners like Taptap Send, we are expanding access to safe, convenient, and reliable ways for Filipinos abroad to send money home while strengthening their connection to the Philippines,” remarked Carlos Bauza, vice president for international payments at GCash International.
To initiate a transaction, users need to download the Taptap Send mobile application, choose the Philippines as their destination, select GCash for settlement, and enter the recipient’s phone number—prefixed with either the Philippine country code (+63) or Bahrain country code (+973).
Upon confirmation, the funds are instantly credited to the recipient’s GCash wallet.
