NETFLIX TO RELEASE THREE-PART DOCUMENTARY ON MATTHEW PERRY

Netflix is set to honor the life and enduring impact of the late actor Matthew Perry through a upcoming three-part documentary series.

Titled “The One About Matthew Perry”—a nod to the iconic title format of the hit sitcom Friends, where Perry rose to global fame playing Chandler Bing—the project is helmed by director Mary Robertson.

The docuseries offers an intimate look into Perry’s life through accounts from those closest to him, including his sister, Mia Perry Bowick, and long-time friends, complemented by previously unreleased family photographs.

“Firsthand memories from his creative collaborators and friends who adored him are woven with candid new details on his private struggles, honoring the legacy of honesty and advocacy he leaves behind,” Netflix shared in a social media announcement.

Perry, who spoke candidly about his personal battles with substance abuse throughout his career, passed away in October 2023 at the age of 54 due to an accidental overdose.

Speaking on the vision behind the production, Robertson hailed the actor as “one of the comedic geniuses of our time.”

“He also gave us so much more by bravely speaking about addiction. Yet the public only knew part of his story. That’s why we set out to make this series: to let the people who knew and loved Matthew reveal the person behind the public figure,” Robertson added.

”The One About Matthew Perry” will be available for streaming globally on Netflix starting October 27.
