COMELEC TO LAUNCH BARMM PRECINCT FINDER AHEAD OF POLLS

Voters in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) will soon have an easier way to determine their assigned polling precincts ahead of the region’s first parliamentary elections.

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) announced that its online precinct finder for the BARMM polls will become available to the public starting September 7, one week before election day.

Registered voters can use the tool by providing their full name, date of birth, and place of registration to identify their designated precinct.

The BARMM parliamentary elections are set for September 14.

During COMELEC’s final command conference in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte, COMELEC Chairperson George Erwin Garcia expressed hope that voter participation would reach between 65% and 70%.

“Ang sinasabi ko nga kahit 65-70% sana ma-achieve natin. Huwag naman baba sa 50% [dahil] parang wala namang ka effort effort ang Comelec at lahat ng stakeholders, kasama ang mga Bangsamoro government,” Garcia said.

The BARMM has 2.393 million registered voters who are eligible to participate in the region’s inaugural parliamentary elections.
