The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) has urged Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla to submit a formal complaint detailing his allegations against members of the judiciary.
IBP National President Allan Panolong reaffirmed the organization’s alignment with the Supreme Court’s stance, emphasizing that while corruption claims must be taken seriously, they require formal submission backed by solid proof.
“The proper way is to make a formal complaint before the SC against the judge or justice who is allegedly involved in any corrupt act relative to a pending case before their sala so that appropriate investigation will be made and the judiciary official will be held accountable if found guilty,” Panolong said in a statement.
Panolong further stressed the organization’s resolute stance against any misuse of judicial authority for personal profit.
“We in the IBP condemn any form of corruptions in any of our institutions moreso in the judiciary,” Panolong said.
The call comes after Remulla informed Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen during a Senate session about “discouraging” decisions by the Court of Appeals that overturned rulings made by the Office of the Ombudsman.
Following Remulla’s statements, the Supreme Court concurred with the Ombudsman on the necessity of holding judicial personnel accountable, but maintained that any charges must be pursued through formal legal channels.
