Tropical cyclone “Pilandok” may cross back into the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday, September 6, while a separate weather disturbance further east appears unlikely to enter the country’s jurisdiction, state meteorologists reported on Saturday, September 5.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) noted that while Pilandok is currently situated outside its tracking zone, it could move back into the monitoring domain within the day before re-entering PAR tomorrow.
“At kung maaalala niyo nga ‘yung bagyong si Bagyong Pilandok na minonitor natin nung mga nakaraang araw, for now, wala na siya sa ating monitoring domain pero within the day, posible itong muling pumasok sa ating area of monitoring at posible pagdating nga ng Sunday ay pumasok ng ating Philippine Area of Responsibility,” PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said.
Torres emphasized that the projected trajectory remains subject to change and advised the public to stay updated through forthcoming agency advisories.
“So posible pa nga iyang magbago kaya patuloy pa rin tayong mag-antabay sa mga ilalabas na update ng PAGASA,” she said.
Meanwhile, PAGASA recorded another tropical depression outside PAR, located 1,685 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon as of 3 a.m.
“May mino-monitor pa rin tayong bagyo sa labas ng ating Philippine Area of Responsibility,” she said.
“Ito ay nasa tropical depression category and as of 3 a.m., ito ay huling namataan sa layong 1,685 kilometers east northeast ng extreme Northern Luzon.”
According to Torres, the probability of this second tropical depression entering PAR has further diminished based on its current movement and position.
The state weather bureau added that the southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” continues to affect broad areas of Luzon and the Visayas, with thick cloud formations prevailing mostly over the western portions of Central and Southern Luzon.
