Two months since ABS-CBN and TV5 revived their partnership, the Kapatid Network appears to be facing an uphill battle in rebuilding the strong audience base it once enjoyed from airing Kapamilya programs.
Ratings data from Nielsen National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) for Thursday, September 3, showed that the Kapamilya primetime action series “Coco Martin’s Sigabo” posted an overall television rating of 7.2%.
The ratings were distributed across several platforms, with TV5, A2Z, and ABS-CBN on ALLTV2 each recording 2.0%. Kapamilya Channel, meanwhile, contributed 1.2% to the show’s total rating.
ABS-CBN’s romantic-comedy series “Someone Someday” registered a lower overall rating of 3.5%. TV5 and A2Z each accounted for 1.0%, while ABS-CBN on ALLTV2 contributed 1.1% and Kapamilya Channel posted 0.4%.
The latest figures are notably lower than the numbers TV5 enjoyed during the height of its partnership with ABS-CBN in 2023 and 2024. At the time, the network’s 8 p.m. timeslot regularly reached ratings of between 8% and 9%.
There were also instances when the slot climbed as high as 11%, particularly when A2Z aired Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) games. During that period, TV5 became the exclusive broadcaster of several ABS-CBN primetime offerings, including “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” “Linlang,” “Can’t Buy Me Love,” and “F4 Thailand” in 2023.
TV5 eventually terminated its content partnership with ABS-CBN on January 1, 2026, reportedly over unpaid financial obligations owed by the Kapamilya Network. The outstanding obligations were subsequently settled, allowing the two networks to restore their collaboration.
The partnership’s temporary halt, however, resulted in a significant decline in TV5’s audience share. At the same time, ALLTV, operated by Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS), experienced a surge in viewership after taking over the broadcast of ABS-CBN’s programs during the period when the two networks were no longer working together.
