Tropical Storm Krovahn—formerly designated locally as “Pilandok”—is unlikely to re-enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), but it will continue to intensify the southwest monsoon (habagat), bringing further rains across parts of Luzon, according to PAGASA.
As of 3:00 AM on Monday, September 7, PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio reported that the storm was tracked 1,155 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, moving eastward at approximately 10 km/h following its departure from the PAR on September 3.
Due to the enhanced habagat, weather conditions across the country are expected to vary over the next 24 hours:
- Occasional Heavy Rainfall: Zambales, Bataan, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.
- Cloudy Skies with Scattered Rains & Thunderstorms: Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Antique, and remaining parts of Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa.
- Partly Cloudy Skies with Isolated Thunderstorms: The rest of the Philippines.
PAGASA advised that although Krovahn continues to move away, its interaction with the monsoon will maintain wet weather patterns over key regions in Luzon.
