Former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez will be assigned to a standard hospital room without VIP amenities should he be transferred to the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital in Camp Crame.
PNP spokesperson Col. Allen Rae Co stated that preliminary arrangements are already underway for Romualdez’s potential relocation from Cardinal Santos Medical Center, a private facility where he is currently undergoing medical care.
“We’ve already done the initial preparations,” Co said.
To evaluate Romualdez’s medical status and determine whether a transfer is appropriate, PNP medical personnel will coordinate directly with his attending doctors at Cardinal Santos Medical Center.
“Our doctors will be coordinating with the doctors of Cardinal Santos,” Co added.
Co clarified that the PNP General Hospital does not offer specialized or executive suites for high-profile figures.
“Dito sa ating PNP General Hospital, wala rito yung mga executive, mga special rooms. Rooms are rooms. Ordinary rooms,” Co emphasized.
Operatives from the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested Romualdez on plunder charges connected to alleged flood-control project irregularities, serving the arrest warrant at his current hospital room.
