The Quezon City government has started distributing Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances to 28 barangays as part of efforts to strengthen emergency medical response in local communities.
The initiative, led by the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (QCDRRMD), has already seen the initial batch of ambulances turned over to several barangays, Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
Belmonte said the vehicles will be deployed for emergencies and other medical situations requiring immediate assistance.
Each ambulance is equipped with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), oxygen supply, medical kits, a stretcher, and other essential equipment for providing basic emergency care. The units also comply with the standards and requirements of the Department of Health (DOH).
The city government said the additional ambulances will enhance the capability of barangay responders to provide prompt medical assistance and safely transport patients who require further care at hospitals and other health facilities.
The deployment is expected to improve residents’ access to emergency medical services while strengthening the capacity of communities to respond quickly during medical emergencies.
