Metro Manila and large portions of the country can anticipate partly cloudy to cloudy skies alongside localized rain showers or thunderstorms on Sunday, according to the state weather bureau.
In its 4 a.m. public forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) noted that localized thunderstorms will primary drive the scattered precipitation across affected regions.
Meanwhile, easterlies will prevail over Extreme Northern Luzon, generating similar partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated downpours in Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.
PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina confirmed that the southwest monsoon remains weak and is unlikely to gain strength in the near term.
”Mahina ang habagat ngayon, at inaasahan nating magpapatuloy itong mahinang habagat sa mga susunod na araw,” Badrina said.
The weather agency added that no low-pressure areas or potential tropical cyclones are currently being monitored inside or near the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
However, atmospheric authorities advised the public to remain alert against sudden torrential rains, flash floods, and rain-induced landslides.
For Extreme Northern Luzon, gentle to moderate winds will blow predominantly from the northeast to east, accompanied by slight to moderate coastal sea conditions and wave heights measuring between 1.2 and 2.1 meters.
Across the rest of the archipelago, light to moderate winds will swing from the northeast to northwest, resulting in slight to moderate coastal waters with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.5 meters.
