A total of 770 barangays across 22 cities and municipalities in Cavite received direct financial assistance under the Marcos administration’s “Bawat Barangay Makikinabang” program.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto led the handover of checks, providing each barangay with ₱200,000 to fund community initiatives and student scholarships.
The program splits the allocation into two equal parts. A ₱100,000 share funds the Bagong Pilipinas Barangay Scholars Program, granting ₱20,000 to five incoming fourth-year college students in every village to help them complete their degrees.
The remaining ₱100,000 supports local development and public safety projects, including solar streetlight installations, emergency equipment procurement, disaster preparedness upgrades, and general service enhancements.
Recto stated that the financial rollout turns national resources into immediate local action, allowing barangay leaders to address pressing community needs and support students without administrative delays.
He highlighted that investing in youth education and local security drives overall national progress.
“Naniniwala po ang Pangulo na edukasyon ang pinakasusi para makaahon sa kahirapan ang isang pamilya, gayundin ang isang bansa. Kaya ang gusto niya: bawat barangay, may college graduates,” Recto said.
Recto urged village officials to manage the funds with transparency and accountability, noting that assisting graduating college students provides direct relief to families.
He emphasized that the initiative aims to empower grassroots leadership by giving local officials direct access to national resources.
”Direkta pong ipinagkatiwala sa inyo ng Pangulo ang pondong ito, dahil kayo ang araw-araw na nasa ground,” Recto noted.
