Tens of thousands of residents across the Philippines remain in temporary shelters as the country copes with the widespread fallout from consecutive tropical cyclones and an intensified southwest monsoon.
Data released by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Sunday, September 13, showed that 46,424 individuals (13,166 families) are still staying in 570 operational evacuation centers.
An additional 76,540 displaced persons (20,956 families) are taking shelter outside official facilities, mostly residing with relatives or friends.
The series of weather systems and enhanced habagat affected 6,923 barangays spanning 11 regions: NCR, CAR, Regions I, II, III, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, V, VI, VIII, and IX. In total, the natural disasters impacted over 10.44 million individuals, representing nearly 2.98 million families.
Infra-structure damage remains significant, with the agency reporting 610 completely destroyed houses and 3,965 partially damaged homes.
To address the ongoing crisis, the DSWD has disbursed ₱2.54 billion in humanitarian aid. The department confirmed that ₱3.54 billion in emergency resources remains available to sustain relief operations, comprising ₱239.55 million in quick response funds alongside ₱3.30 billion in food and non-food supplies.
Alongside physical relief, the agency is delivering targeted social protection services.
As of Sunday, support had been provided to 739 beneficiaries, supported by the deployment of 210 psychological first-aid sessions, 31 child-friendly spaces, and 31 women-friendly spaces across the hard-hit areas.
