The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring cloudy conditions, scattered rain and thunderstorms to several areas in the Visayas and Mindanao on Wednesday, September 16, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said the Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Masbate, Lanao del Sur and Davao Oriental will experience cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.
Other parts of the Visayas and Mindanao may see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, also associated with the weather system.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, meanwhile, are expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms brought by localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also reported that it continues to monitor a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as of 3 a.m. Wednesday.
The tropical depression was located approximately 2,970 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon, at 15.0°N latitude and 149.3°E longitude.
The system was packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near its center, with gusts reaching up to 70 kilometers per hour.
It was moving slowly in a west-northwestward direction.
