Around 21,000 daycare children in Manila received school supplies and other essential items from the city government for School Year 2026–2027 on Wednesday, September 16.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso, together with officials from the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW), led the distribution of assistance to daycare students across the city.
Domagoso said the local government would continue helping parents meet their children’s basic needs, particularly in nutrition and education.
“Alam ko pinahahalagahan ninyo ang nutrisyon ng inyong mga anak. Katuwang ninyo ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Maynila, kasabay ng mga school supplies,” he said.
The beneficiaries received school supplies, school bags, educational books, rubber shoes, jogging pants, raincoats and hygiene kits. They also received YorMilk under the city-funded milk program.
The city government also highlighted its Rice for Work Program as another form of assistance available to parents of daycare children.
Domagoso reaffirmed the city government’s commitment to programs aimed at improving the welfare of children and supporting Manila residents.
“Hangga’t nandito ako, magiging bahagi kami ng solusyon para makatulong at maibsan ang mga pangangailangan natin. Mahalaga sa akin ang kinabukasan ng mga bata. Ang gusto ko, malulusog ang mga bata at hindi sila pagkakaitan ng magandang kinabukasan,” the mayor said.
He stressed that families and the local government share responsibility in helping children stay in school and prepare for their future.
“Itatawid natin ang kinabukasan nila — nanay, tatay, lolo at lola, kasama ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Maynila,” Domagoso said.
