State employees in the Executive branch will render half-day service on Monday, September 28, following Malacañang’s decision to shorten work hours in celebration of the 34th National Family Week.
Under Memorandum Circular No. 136, signed on September 16, duties in state agencies, state universities and colleges, and government-owned or -controlled corporations will be suspended starting at 1:00 p.m. to give public servants time to celebrate with their households.
The directive aligns with Proclamation No. 60 (s. 1992), which establishes the final week of September as Family Week, and Proclamation No. 326 (s. 2012), which marks every fourth Monday of September as “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga” Day.
However, offices providing core public functions—including healthcare, disaster response, basic services, and vital operations—will maintain full operations to avoid service interruptions.
“Government workers in the Executive branch are encouraged to fully support the programs and activities relative to the observance of 34 National Family Week, as organized by the National Committee on the Filipino Family,” the memorandum read.
The Palace likewise advised private companies, independent constitutional bodies, and other branches of government to consider adopting a similar early dismissal scheme so their personnel can participate in the annual event.
