Over 154 households in Barangay 648, Manila, gained better access to proper sanitation after local officials and partner organizations officially turned over a new communal Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facility on September 17, Thursday.
Equipped with seven toilet rooms, the infrastructure aims to boost local sanitation standards, encourage better hygiene habits, and curb the spread of preventable diseases across the neighborhood.
The project was realized through a multi-sectoral collaboration involving the Department of Health–Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD), the City Government of Manila, the Manila Health Department, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and A Single Drop for Safe Water, Inc.
This turnover marks the third operational communal WASH site in Manila, joining earlier completed projects in Barangays 286 and 128.
Health authorities noted that expanding access to these facilities remains a core strategy in establishing cleaner, healthier living conditions for underserved urban communities.
The ongoing rollout of these hygiene hubs highlights the joint commitment of government entities, non-profit groups, and local stakeholders to deliver immediate, practical health solutions to public-health-vulnerable neighborhoods across the capital.
