TAGUIG CITY, Philippines — A 24-year-old law student from Ateneo de Manila University died on Friday, September 18, after falling from a high-rise building in Bonifacio Global City.
Local police identified the victim as Nath Alcantara, a resident on the 16th floor of Fort Victoria in Barangay Fort Bonifacio. Alcantara was the son of Noli Alcantara, district engineer for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 2nd District Engineering Office in Negros Oriental.
Aside from his legal studies, Alcantara was active in the local sports community as a competitive golfer, having represented clubs including Mount Malarayat, Summit Point, Camp John Hay, and Pugo Adventure.
Records show he last competed in a Federation League match on June 14 for Mount Malarayat against Valley.
Based on preliminary police reports, the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on the fourth floor of the structure, with authorities receiving the report at approximately 9:10 a.m.
Security personnel had finished morning duties around 7:01 a.m. and gathered in the main lobby before building security officer-in-charge Angel Cris Borromeo headed toward the upper levels. After reaching the third floor and opening the door to the staff barracks, Borromeo reported hearing a heavy thud.
Building maintenance workers and security staff inspected the location shortly after and discovered the victim’s body. Police forces subsequently identified the individual as Alcantara.
Detectives from the Taguig City Police Station’s Investigation and Detective Management Section, alongside forensic teams from the Southern Police District, arrived to secure and analyze the scene.
An investigation remains ongoing, and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the precise cause and circumstances of death.
