DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte stated on Friday, September 25, that she has no confirmation on whether her brother, Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, will appear as a witness in her Senate impeachment trial.
Speaking to reporters, the Vice President acknowledged that the two had previously discussed the subpoena issued to the local chief executive as part of the ongoing evidentiary proceedings.
“Wala akong info kung mag-a-attend siya pero ang napag-usapan namin noon at that time merong subpoena sa kanya,” the Vice President said.
“So, sinabihan ko siya bago pa man lumabas sinabi ko may subpoena sa iyo at sinabi niya na kausapin niya daw yung City Legal Office,” she added.
The prosecution panel in the impeachment case requested Mayor Duterte’s presence to testify and submit relevant information.
However, the Vice President did not confirm if her brother intends to comply with the summons or appear before the tribunal, noting that the city’s legal office is handling the matter on his behalf.
